Season 5 answered the meaning of the numbers; there is no meaning. They’re just a random serial number for the hatch. To me it represents how humanity tends to derive great significance from random events. Hurley has spent all this time and energy on figuring out these numbers because they ruined his life and in the end they mean nothing, just a serial number.
